No. Applicants should arrange periodic collection of recyclable materials for recycling with contractors or recyclers. Please refer to "Hong Kong Collector / Recycler Directory" of the Environmental Protection Department for details.
The ECC offers three-year free maintenance warranty for waste separation bins (made of metal) and one-year free maintenance warranty for outdoor waste separation bins (made of plastic) counting from the date of receipt of the recycling bins. Please note that the warranty only covers natural damage, any claims for maintenance due to improper use or misplacing the recycling bins will not be entertained. When the maintenance warranty expires, applicants should contact appropriate contractors for maintenance for minor defects or the ECC Secretariat for replacement of the waste separation bins if necessary.
Application for replacement of bins will normally be considered if the indoor waste separation bins (made of metal) and outdoor waste separation bins (made of plastic) granted by the ECC have been used for more than 5 years or 3 years respectively and are no longer in good condition. For any other cases (e.g. the bins could not function properly due to broken parts), the ECC Secretariat will consider on an individual basis.
Applicant can choose to replace a whole set or a single bin for outdoor waste separation bins (made of plastic).
Yes, you may request for new bin labels by filling in the "Education and Promotion Materials Request Form" on the Waste Reduction Website. The larger set of bin cover and bin body stickers is for outdoor waste separation bins (made of plastic) while the smaller set is for indoor waste separation bins (made of metal).
